Philip Sessarego

Philip Sessarego was a soldier in the Royal Artillery. Sessarego tried twice to join the SAS but was unsuccessful in his applications. He faked his death in Croatia claiming that he had been blown up by a car bomb. He assumed the identity Tom Carew and wrote Jihad! The Secret War in Afghanistan. Sessarego had made several enemies through his career and was recognised on television which led to his true identity being revealed. In 2008 his decomposed remains were found in a lock-up garage in Antwerp. It is believed that he died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
